How to select a new Graphics Card?

Hello good people. How do I make a good choice at which graphic card should I buy in this ocean wide choice of hardware? Is 7600 GT better than Ati Radeon 9800 pro? Which graphic card is more better for programs and which one is more better for games? Thanks for any answer.

The choice you will make should be based on your motherboard. There is a difference with graphic card standards today. There are AGP and PCI-Express Graphic Cards. So, first you must know what type of graphic slot you are using, and than consider the desired choice. AGP cards cannot fit physically to PCI-Express slot and vice-versa. Based on informations you provided to us, I can say one thing more. If you are using 32bit processors than you have AGP standard on your motherboard. Almost every 64-bit motherboard uses PCI-Express. So, GeForce 7600 differs very much from Ati 9800 pro. As in physical so in performance it self. And if some certain graphic card can render games well, than there wont be any problem with the programs also.
