Hi people! I am planning to buy an new pc and I would like to use it as a ftp server. I was wondering if anyone here might be able to help me – what do I need to do that? Do I need any special software? How should I set my router/firewall? Will I be able to host web pages too? Any help would be highly appreciated!

Well, first you’ll have to forward port 21 for TCP on the router and any other firewall. And of course, you need some software. FileZilla is an excellent free FTP server but if you use it you won’t be able to host web pages. You should probably install XP Pro since it comes with IIS and it acts as both Web Server and FTP server.
