The display on my Toshiba Satellite A30 died, and I don't really want to take it in to be replaced and get ripped off shamelessly, especially since I've got the exact same model (sans HDD and RAM) sitting in the closet. I'd like to replace the dysfunctional LCD screen with the old, working one. However, I've never done this before, so if someone with more experience could give me some tips (or point me to an online guide), I'd appreciate it.

It's really not as difficult as you may think. I did this a few times, though not with the same model, so I'll try and guide you through this. Step one, remove the battery. Step two, remove the little rubber caps that hide the screws right next to the hinges, then unscrew these. Step three, lift the plastic cover that should come right off once you remove the screws in step 2. Step four, remove the screws holding the LCD in place. Step five, detach the video connectors carefully. Step five, lift the LCD screen out. Now, take the new screen, and repeat the above steps in reverse order to put in in place of the old one. There, that wasn't so hard, was it?
