To do this, I need to remove the old HDD, obviously. I can’t seem to do it, though. I unscrewed every screw that I can get to, removed the keyboard, put I still can’t pry the hard disc off. Am I doing something wrong here? I shouldn’t just push/pull harder, should I? I wouldn’t want to break something. Is there a diagram that I could check out?

I have the same model and yes, it can be hard to remove the HD. What you want to do is turn the hold thing over, then press hard on the part below the WLAN light. You should feel something heavy slide down a little – that means you’ve got it out, so you can just turn it over again and remove normally. If it won’t move, I suppose it means you actually did forget a screw or two.
