How to know that you're not infected?

Hello! I am running Windows XP Professional Service Pack two installed operating system. I am beginner in usage of this operating system and I hope that you will help me. Namely, my system is acting very strange and I want to know following: How to know that you're not infected? Thanks!

Hello! Well, you will need to scan your system with antivirus and antispyware software. If nothing is found, then you are not infected. But, to be sure that you are not infected perform scanning with these programs on boot up (first with antivirus) and in Safe Mode, because many malicious programs cannot start until Windows is not full loaded.
