Hello! I’ve been using ICQ for years and it served me well. I didn’t mean to change my IM, but most of my friends switched to Yahoo messenger. Many of them switched because they already use yahoo mail for communication. Now, I’d like to switch to Y! messenger, so I’ve downloaded it from the official site, but something goes wrong. After installing it, and starting the program, I get the error: “Yahoo! Messenger has encountered a problem and needs to close." I’ve tried to reinstall, but it didn’t seem to help. Any suggestions on what should I do?

Well, I’m not sure what the problem is, but I’ll try to help. I see that you’ve already tried to reinstall the app. However, it may be that some parts of registry are corrupted so you should run some registry cleaner (google for it, there’s plenty of these for free), or even try windows-integrated System Restore (you should restore to the restore point before the first installing of Y! messenger). I’ve also heard that installing of the newest version of Macromedia Flash player solves the problem. If none of the above helps, there’s still some hope. Try downloading an older version of the messenger, from the oldversion.com website.
