|

All the instructions say that I need to have a floppy to store the SATA HDD controllers on, but that’s a problem with me. My floppy drive is less then reliable, if you know what I mean – it’s old and I haven’t been using it, and now I wouldn’t want to have to depend on it for this. Isn’t there a way to install the OS without the floppy? Couldn’t I just burn the drivers onto a CD, and then use that when I’m prompted for them? Or do I just need the floppy, no exceptions?

That’s an interesting idea there … I’m not sure if it’ll work, though, since during the installation you will need the Windows XP disc, and I don’t know how it’ll react when you replace it with the one that has the SATA controllers. Maybe if you burned the XP installation and the drivers to the same CD? Or if you have multiple CD drives onboard? I don’t know, it might be easier to just get a working floppy drive instead.
