Hi!
With the rapidly falling prices of monitors, it doesnt make any sense to get it fixed. I think that a warranty on monitors is shorter than 2 years. You dont repair computer equipment today, you just buy a new one. But lets seIt's either the monitor or the monitor cable. My guess by the way you describe it would be the monitor because it only does it after you leave it for awhile. The problem could be caused by the heat. After 2 years abnormal operation should be expected. I dont recommend self-service. Inside your monitor there are many places where electricity is stored that can be quite deadly, even 30 minutes after it has been unplugged, for example: On the top of the glass CRT tube there is a little rubber suction cup type "thing" with a wire running from it, for the love of god, leave it alone. Theres enough voltage in that thing to get you killed easy. It is signaling you that it's close to kicking over alright. You will have to buy a new one. In the meantime to extend its life I would turn it off every time you are not using it.
