I have a Four-Point Surround Sound 200 system, but I'm having trouble connecting them. I mean, I think I connected them right, and they sound OK (again, I think), but when I bring up the sound control program (I'm on Win XP), it can only test the rear two speakers, and the front two are sort of grayed out in the diagram. I checked, and they are plugged in directly into the woofer, and sound is coming out of them. I have no idea why they can't be detected by the software, or how come they still work while undetected?

Look at the bright side – they could be detecting properly, but not working, would you prefer that? Seriously, though, check to see if you've got the right drivers installed – it's possible that the system is somehow declared as a dual instead of quad, though it still handles the sound as it is supposed to. Still, I wouldn't really mess with the installation as long as the speakers are functioning.
