I recently bought an eMAC, and I want to change file associations. I was a windows user, so every looks strange here. There is no context menu on the right click, and there is no control panel. There is no possibility to start file with a different program. How to solve this issue? Any suggestions? Type of the files is avi, mpeg, divx, DVD and iso, if that matters.

MAC OS is easy to use once you get used to it. To change which program opens which applications, first thing is to open file Window. To be more specific, the name is File Information Window. Select Get Info card and look at the button open with. When you click on it you will see a drop menu with several buttons. There are all programs and you should select one that you like the most. For example select AppleWorks, and the selected file will be opened with AppleWorks next time. There is another button called other. There you can choose some other programs. Some programs that are not listed, and that you want to use. You see, its same like in windows. I wonder how you didnt see the context menu, it was right under your nose. For more information feel free to contact me on my email address.
