| I have 2 computers, one a desktop and on a laptop, both running Windows XP Home. I have setup my desktop so that it can be accessed using Remote Desktop. I enabled RD on the desktop and the Windows firewall. I forwarded port 3389 on my router and checked it at home. I set up an account at one site to keep up with my IP addresses. After doing this, I tried to Remote Desktop into my desktop through my laptop while I was at school. I typed the IP address in the Remote Desktop input box and it told me I was unable to connect. I tried again when I arrived home and it was still unsuccessful. What should I do? |

Hi there!
First get rid of the firewall. I think once you get rid of the firewall in the equation youll see you are able to connect fine. This doesnt mean that you have to get rid of your router, just disable the internal firewall on the router and your windows firewall. Another thing. The Remote Desktop feature is only available in Windows XP Professional. It's not included with Windows XP Home Edition. You can actually use remote desktop to remote from XP home. You cannot remote desktop to XP home. To remote from, go to start/programs/accessories/com... desktop. Why are you using remote desktop from school? Are you cheating on the exam?
