I am wandering how much more RAM I can add on my motherboard. New games and software are more and more demanding and I feel I need as much RAM as I can get. Currently, I have 512MB ram module and three more memory slots free. Motherboard is Gigabyte model for AMD 64bit with AM2 slot. Hope this information will help you to decide how much RAM I can place on my motherboard.

Generally speaking you can have up to 4GB RAM on desktop computer. That amount depends from your motherboard model which means that different motherboard models can support different amount of RAM. To get to physical maximum you will have to change your current 512MB module with 1GB module and by three more 1GB modules which is rather expensive venture. Honestly, you will not be able to see difference between 1GB and 2GB RAM. So, I recommend you to buy one more 512MB module which will fulfill most of your needs or in extreme case one 1GB module because I am not aware of anything that requires more then 1.5GB RAM
