I recently bought some new memory for my computer. I thought that I could install it because it seems very easy. However, after I installed them my computer would not start. How could that be possible? Which is the right memory for my computer? How much memory my Asus mobo supports?

You should check on Asus site which type of memory applies for your motherboard before you buy any. There are three major completely different types of memory that your motherboard could support. Manufacturers of the motherboards usually made their slots different for each of those types to ensure that nobody could switch them. If your machine is not older then four years, it must support either SDRAM, DDR or maybe DDR2. You should also check how much memory your motherboard supports in a whole and per every slot. If your computer is not older then a year, it probably supports at least 4GB DDR2 type of memory. You should also pay attention to buy DDR2 memory of the correct speed (533, 667 or 800).
