I had major OS disorder lately, been attacked by some viruses and other malwares that completely messed it up. So what is left to be done then to reinstall and change my Windows which means that I have to back up all the files that I have on it. Backing up usual files music, pictures, movies, documents wasn’t a problem apart the fact that took me some time, but I have major dilemma how to save my favorites and OE. Is there some way to that?

Yeah changing System can be a major job especially if you weren’t backing up files on regular bases. Saving Favorites is quite easy and actually I am giving you a tip I heard from one guy I know. Go to Favorites (find them in this path C:\Documents and Settings\ Name), select Favorites Icon and then compressed it to a zip file with Winzip or Winrar program. Getting them in that extension you can save them on cd or DVD, but here’s major part you can mail them to your mail in case that you are using some online accounts like yahoo, hotmail or gmal for example. When you install your new system you can unzip the file in your new Favorites folder. Usual drill is open IE go to File menu Click Export/Import which will launch the Wizard so then Click Next. From the list which action you want to perform, select Export Favorites and click Next. Chose if you want all favorites to be backup or make a selection, click Next and chose then folder where you want them exported and again Next and then Finish.
Saving the OE can be done in many ways also, I will mention just few. Can go to Adress Book and open it and File/Export, window that gives you option to slelect where you want to save it, make a choice name the file and save. This method is giving the “wab” extension to a file. You can also open OE go to File/Export/Adress Book – Comma separated Values/ click all the boxes that are infront important things you want Backup.Click Next and follow the Wizzard steps. That saved file will have “txt” extension, which is good in case some of you files were corrupted or infected so you can later approach it by Notepad. For backing up the rules that OE was applying to incoming email, moving files to selected folders or filtering the junk you must go to Start, Run and type Regedit. Navigate it with Registry key .that one is usual different depending on which model of OE you use. You also have other way to back up you OE with some software that are offered like Adolix OE Backup, OI Backup Tiger, Backup Manager HM with FAM, Express Assist, ABF OE Backup, etc
