How do I host a website?

I would like to make a website and host it from my own pc. The site will have a lot of photos so I think that it would be better if I could have it all in one place. I’m not sure that it’s possible so I came here to ask someone about it. Could anyone offer some help on this?

I think that hosting your web site on your own computer might be a bad idea. First of all, you need to have a super fast (upstream) internet connection. But anyway, I think it would be against ISP terms and conditions. People usually have servers on their own computers for testing scripts and most people use Apache server. Still, if you have windows XP pro you can set that up with IIS and it should work.
