Hi! My internet connection is ADSL 256k, and that means that my speed should be 32k per second. Right? Well, when I am downloading something, movie for example, the bittorent reports only 4k? How can it be? Peer to peer connection should work fine, there are no limitations, right? When I am downloading something in save target as format, speed is much better. How do you explain this? How to increase my download speed? Should I complain to my vendor?

| You see, everything is working fine with your connection. There is no problem here. Bittorent works on the share principle, so you are pulling certain file from someone elses computer. And youre not the only one. There is a thing called leecher. It is a term for someone like you, someone who is downloading something from a distant computer. So the number of leechers is 5, 6, 7 or 50 for example. They all share the actual upload speed, from seed computer. Seed means that you are sharing something with other users. In you bittorrent client you can see the upload speed. It is 4kbs or something. Imagine that 10 users want to download something from your computer. Divide 4kbs with 10, what do you get? So if you want to increase your download speed, you should find a torrent file with small number of leechers. That means you have all file for your self, you are not sharing it with any one. That is the ideal situation, so its happening rarely. |
