I have two computers and I connected them using crossover cable. One computer has two network cards and is connected to internet over cable modem. File and print sharing is successfully configured but internet sharing is not. I have tried to connect to internet from other computer (not one directly connected to modem) and I was unsuccessful. After several tries I decided to ask you for help. How to configure intent sharing?
Internet connection sharing (ICS) is easy to configure on Windows XP. Open network connections in control panel on computer that is directly connected to internet. This one computer will be gateway for second computer. In network connections find network card that is connected with modem, right click on it and choose Properties. In new window click on Advanced tab and check Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection check box. Also you should disable Client for Microsoft Networks and File and print sharing on shared connection. After this gateway computer is ready. On client computer configure TCP/IP settings so this computer is automatically acquiring IP address and DNS server. This is all about ICS.
