Because you did not set option for save history in it. To do that, open your browser, click on tools, then internet options. There is part History. Enter number of days to keep pages in history. (Here you clear history clicking on same button good to know). Then click apply, and then Ok.
History of your browsing is saved in folder History. To get there, open Documents and settings, open user. Local settings folder is hidden folder, so, to see it click on Tools, then folder option, then view and in hidden files and folders check show hidden files and folders. Click apply, then ok. Now, open local settings, then open history folder. You will see that there are all your history data.
