OK, so there's this external HDD, right? Now, it's 90 GB, and I have it split into two partitions. This setup used to work OK until I choose to install XP onto it. Now what happens is I can see the first partition, but the second is missing when I look for it in Disk Management! When I open up My Computer, it's still there, but inaccessible, won't show contents when I click on it, says it's not formatted and offers to format it (again). Any idea what's going on here?

Well, it does seem strange but … did you take it up on the offer? Formatted the troublesome partition, I mean? What happened? If it didn't help, try attaching the external HDD to a bootable system (I assume you're currently using it as a system drive, since you say you have the OS installed there). When you do this, regardless of whether or not the missing partition problem persists, you should backup and format the whole ext. drive (again). Make sure that it's NTFS, of course.
