I think that I have some troubles with power adapter on my HP Pavilion N5495. I can leave battery charging for as long as I like but battery stays on 0 when I power up laptop with only battery supply. I would really like you to tell me if you suspect some other problem than power adapter. Thank you for your attention.

I am not sure that problem is in power adapter. Have you tried to run laptop with only power adapter attached to power supply? If this works than problem is with battery. It is more likely that battery has stopped working after long usage then a power adapter. I would suggest you to try what I suggested above and see what is really in problem here.
