I have just upgraded my PC with bigger hard drive. I bought WD Caviar, 160 GB. But it seems that the hard drive is fault somehow. I have opened the computer case, I attached the both cables to the drive. And when I started the machine with the new drive for the first time, the computer can’t boot! I can’t log in! Help needed.

This is nothing else but a bad jumper configuration. WD caviar models do have jumper configurations, like all other brands. Jumper is a piece of plastic that sets the hard drive or CD/DVD device to be in the right position. Slave or Master. Take a look at jumper settings on your HDD and if you attached it with the old one, than you must set the drive to acts like a “slave” device. Otherwise there is a conflict, just like now.
