I have a Dell Inspirion computer. I mean its actually laptop if youre not sure. The problem is my hard drive is dead, and I need to fix it fast. All of my work files are there and I dont want to loose it. Can I open it, or am I allowed to open it? I am afraid that I could actually broke something. My manufacturer cannot respond quickly, so I dont have any better option. How to boot any operating system on it? I dont have an external drive but I could borrow it. And then, how to install system from there, what should I do step by step?

You are right about opening you Dell. It isnt recommended, you can screw up something. In order to use another OS you have to install you drivers firstly. You someone elses computer to load drivers. Then plug it in via USB cable and reboot. I am not sure you can access BIOS from your laptop, but lets assume that you can. Press del, and you will see the BIOS screen. Select hardware, or an option with a similar name. Select first boot device and choose you USB. BIOS will ask you if you want to save your settings. Click yes and system will reboot. From that point everything should work fine, except it will not work so fast as your previous drive. How did you managed to screw up your hard drive? Do you have a warranty on your Dell? I assume that you have because Inspirion is one of the newest series. Cheers!
