Anyone has any ides? My old HDD gets stuck; it seems to me from no reason, whenever I run scan disk on it. Is it damaged maybe? How can I check? I have another HDD which is fully functional, so it is no special hurry, but I would like to make this one function too. I could use any suggestions on how to solve this problem.

Well, if you are not in hurry, instead of taking it to IT specialist, which I most usually recommend, you can try few things yourself. For example, you can try manufacturer’s tests for your Hard disk drive, because it is always the best way to see if it is damaged, or if it has some errors or bad sectors. Those tests can take a while, so be ready. They can also damage all data on your hard disk, so you better back it up before trying anything. Those tests will probably show some kind of mistake, because I can not imagine other reason for this kind of behavior. Then you will see if it can be used or not.
