| I have been having my hard disk for very long time, about 3 years now. It is one perfectly good Western Digital that served me well all this time without any problems. However, it recently started clicking and rattling. I am really not used to such things, so if anyone could help me that would be really great, thanks in advance. |

| Hard disks are meant to be one of the most durable components of all. It is simply that the average age they achieve is longer than the one of the graphic cards or CPUs. Now, since you have had your hard disk for three years, there can be several things that pose you a problem. The brand is obviously good, Western Digital is well known for its products, but it could be that your disk is simply getting overused. Most problems with hard disks are either electronic or mechanic, and clicking and rattling suggest the latter. It might also be a virus messing up with it, or you need to defragment it. In any case, be sure to make a backup of your data so you would not lose it. |
