| Hello. I have one very old computer in my home that is connected together with the other newer machine. So far, it was acted like a router, firewall under Slackware. The mobo supports AGP 2x only, and I think that’s compatible with the AGP 8X standard. The one that my “new” graphic card is using. I have found it cheap (FX 5200) and plugged it. The slack has accepted the card, but now there are hardware issues, I guess. Sudden restarts. How can I force this graphic card to work on this machine? Is it because AGP speed misunderstanding? Thanks in advance. |

| Probably. There is pretty much difference between these two standards. AGP slot operates at 3.3 v I think, and there is no way that you can’t fry something inside sooner or later. AGP 4X/8X are compatible. There is automatic voltage regulator on every Graphic card, but I don’t know how far it can goes. Anyway, you must put that graphic card on some other AGP 3.0 motherboard. Or 8X. Hurry up with that, before you see that oldie burned to the death. |
