Google Earth service is offering you capability to view aerial and satellite captured images of cities and places all over the world. Google took the advantage of it’s powerful search engines to collect this kind of data from different sites and make it available along with a lot of additional information related to the particular item you’re looking for. It is not a real-time view from satellite, but possibility to access all available images that are already captured. About system requirements, as I found, it is possible to run it under Windows 2000 or XP, or Mac OS X. Machine should fulfill following requirements: CPU: 500MHz, Free Hard Disk Space: 400 MB, System RAM: 128 MB (PC), 256 MB (Mac), Video RAM: 16 MB and resolution 1024x768. Necessary connection requirement is 128 Kbps bandwidth which means that you need some kind of broadband. This service is free for personal use and you have to pay for additional GPS device support and professional use features. About weather it is threatening someone’s privacy, I suggest you to try and judge yourself. I don’t know is it that bad – yet. |
