Gmail problem with spam

I am thinking about making account in Gmail. But I dont know how that service is safe. So I need advice from someone that has experience with Gmail. I have also heard some Gmail problem with spam. I dont know anything for sure, so I want to find out also something about this topic. Any advice and new info is more than welcomed.

I have been using Gmail for some time. It is nice service, and I dont have complains on it. You said something about Gmail problem with spam. Gmail has special spam filter. So it is filtering spam, and cleaning your mail box. It is like many other webmail services. But all this filters are not perfect. So from time to time, can happen that some spam arrives to your mail box. But percent of this mails is very little. So this shouldnt be the cause because you dont want Gmail. It is only my experience and my opinion with it. Maybe someone else doesnt agree with me.
