Ghosting HD drive with external HDD?

Hello. I am planning to make a ghost of my system hard drive and to place it on external hard drive. I have heard different advices regarding this operation and storage place. I am not certain that this is wise thing to do if I take in account what I have heard. What is your opinion about ghosting HD drive with external HDD?

Hello. I think it is not a good idea to place ghost image of HD drive to external HDD. External hard drives are notorious regarding storing data and they are very error prone. Error in this case could mean a disaster. I would advise you some more reliable media like DVD or other partition on internal hard drive.
