How can I get rid of MSN Messenger? I am not using it and it really annoys me seeing it pop up every time I boot computer and noticing it in system tray. I can not find it in Add/Remove programs and I do not know how to disable it. I do not believe that Microsoft thought we will all be happy using MSN Messenger and that making it possible to remove is useless?
MSN Messenger is made a part of Windows XP so it is not that easy to remove this little boring piece of software. You can do it buy uninstalling it from Add/Remove Programs, but from Windows Components part and not from default window. Then you should apply some registry fix. This can be dangerous so it is easier to disable it to start with Windows. Open MSN Messenger and go to Tools/Options and then Preferences tab. Uncheck Run this program when Windows starts and Allow this program to run in the background. This will disable MSN Messenger.
