The other day my computer started making these weird clacking noises, it gave me quite a fright. I managed to pin down the cause to the video card fan it's really noisy now, and seems to be getting noisier each time I restart. At first I thought it was just catching some loose cables, but it's not. Is it about to die on me? What do I do?
Odds are it's just getting old, and needs some attention. Here's what you do: Remove the video card form the slot, then detach the fan from the card proper. Carefully clean out all the dust off. Use a soft cloth and rubbing alcohol or something to clean it. You might want to lube it up a little as well.
