Free HDD Diagnostic Tool

Hello! I have Seagate 200 GB hard drive and Win XP OS installed on it. I have noticed that this hard drive does not work as it worked before. I have talked about this problem with my friend and he told me that I should run some hard drive diagnostic tool. So, I am wondering is there any free hard drive diagnostic tool? I will appreciate any help regarding this. Thank you very much!

Hello! I know for two hard drive diagnostic tools which will be appropriate for your hard drive. First of them are actually part of your Windows XP operating system and it is Error Checking (chkdsk). You can run it and it will check your hard drive for errors and most of them this tool is able to repair. Second free tool is Seagate SeaTools and there are two versions of this tool: for Windows and for DOS. You can download and install it from Seagate official web site. This tool (for Windows) is very easy for use (easier then chkdsk).
