Hi, here's a newbie question: My Seagate Hard Disc is formatted so that it has one 100GB partition and one 60GB. I want to reformat it so that it's all one big partition, and not divided in two. However, a friend told me he thinks I can't do that, because Windows XP doesn't recognize disc size bigger than 100GB or so, and if I try it, I'll just lose the remaining space! Is this true? Can it be avoided somehow? TIA!

You and your friend are confusing issues here. First, of course XP can recognize large discs (he formats all in NTFS anyway). Second, yes, you can make a single non-partitioned disc, when you reinstall Windows XP it should offer a selection where you choose "single partition" or whatever it's called. However, I strongly advise against it. Having a partitioned hard disc is often very useful, especially in case of system failure. At the very least, you should keep two partitions, a small one (couple of GB) to install the OS on, and a large one containing everything else.
