Hello there. I am sure that someone more professional than I am will surely give you an answer to your question, but before they do I will give you few hints. Scripting languages are used for controling applications, that is at least the way I am understanding it. The script tells a program what to do, that is the most precise I can say it  Yes, Java has many things to do with it. It is a programming language , and it is used to control applications. But there are other scripting languages, such as Pearl, Python, Php etc. But, if you are not into programming, you do not have to know all these things.
