Firefox Browser Back Button issue

On any webiste that I put together, I've found that after clicking "Search", the Back and Forward commands tend to become somehow corrupted. After that you need to hit the Back button twice to go one page back, four times to go two pages back, and so on. I naver had this happen on other sites, such as Google or Yahoo. Is this some design choice that they're making and I'm not, or what?

Basically, yes it is. Google uses java script to run an altered version of the result after a searcvh is submitted from Firefox. You can check out a snipped of their code at this link: http://www.mhl.org/search6.asp

Bear in mind, though, that this example is slightly modified, has something to do with handling browser history differently I think.
