I have installed PCLinuxOS 2007 on my laptop. Everything went fine, but when I connect external USB hard drive I can not access it. I can see hard drive, its capacity and free space left but it is all. When I click on it I receive some error message. Just for notice, this hard drive worked fine under Windows XP SP2. Do you know the source of this external hard drive issue?

Hello. I think that your external hard drive issue is tied with file system on that hard drive. If you were using Windows XP prior to Linux then there is a big possibility that external hard drive is formatted like NTFS. NTFS is propriety Microsoft file system and Linux distributions are getting along with it very well. Some of them can read files, most can not write files on NTFS. There are some experimental drivers for this but I would not recommend you to use them if you value your data. Just transfer files from external hard drive on some Windows machine, burn them to DVD (or something else) and then reformat hard drive to some file system supported by Linux.
