Hello. I have installed new 250 GB hard drive in external HDD USB enclosure. When I connect it to computer I can see that USB device is recognized but I can not find hard drive anywhere. It is not listed in my computer along with other hard drives. I have checked in device manager and device is listed there. Do you have any advice for me regarding this problem?

Hi. Have you formatted HDD before placing it in external enclosure? If you have not formatted it then it is the source of your problems. Computer (read this: Windows XP) can not recognize unformatted hard drive or hard drives formatted as unsupported file system. Just install this hard drive as regular secondary IDE drive and format it. After this place it in enclosure and everything will work fine.
