| Hello. I have bought external, case embed hard drive for emergency back ups. 3.5 storage case with 300 gigabytes inside, and the only connection is the USB port. I have no other options. Anyway, when I try to establish a connection with the PC and this one, I can see the USB icon, but there are no partitions. How to back up my files with this one? What do I need to do, and which software to use to make this drive visible to the system? Thanks in advance. |

| Hello. You have new unformatted hard drive. Every fixed storage device, needs formating before the first usage, perfectly normal. You can do that from the Disk Management utility. Right click on my computer than click on manage>storage>disk management. You will see the picture form the right pane describing your storage devices including your DVD/CD drives. Right click on your new drive and create new logical drive, format it and assign the drive letter. After that, your new drive is ready, no reboot required, and you can choose what to store on it. If you want to back-up the entire system, ny suggestion is Acronis True Image. |
