Every time I log into Windows XP Explorer.exe crashes with appropriate message that it has encountered an error and needs to close. I have to wait a minute or two for explorer to restart and give me control over computer. It woks for a few minutes like this and the explorer crashes again. Explorer.exe is definitely not working. Can you offer me some solution?

It is a serious thing when explorer.exe is not working. You should try to repair system files and see what happens. Go to Start and then click Run. In dialog enter "sfc /scannow" (without the quotes) and hit enter. This will scan your system for corrupted system files and replace them. Do not forget to insert XP installation CD in optical device. If this does not help then you should try to repair Windows installation from CD ROM. If everything fails then you will have to reinstall Windows.
