| I bought a new computer four months ago. Everything worked fine until today. Since this morning, my DVD disappeared from My computer section in my XP. I try to restart my computer several times, but I still have the same problem. I don't know how to solve this mystery. I thought about using System Restore, but a friend told me that Excessive use of System Restore causes a trouble. What should I do? |

| If I understand you well, your DVD worked perfectly normal until this morning. Your problem might be caused by few separate reasons - hardware and software. From the software angle, maybe you installed some software, which is causing your problem. Try to remember what software you might install yesterday on your PC and try to remove them. Also, try to reinstall motherboard IDE drivers. If nothing of that won't help, there is also a possibility that your computer experienced problems during your Windows start-up and automatically restored some backup copy of your registry. Because of that, try to restore your computer on some earlier restore point while everything still worked fine. I do not think that will do you any harm. From the hardware angle, your computer might experience some electric shock during the night or when you plug him in the morning. In that case, you would have to ask for professional help. |
