Excel 2000 question: Placing footnote on all sheets in a workbook

I need some help with my Microsoft Office updates, precisely with Excel 2000. I downloaded the update from the Internet. The file was compressed in ZIP format. I have Microsoft Windows XP installed on my computer for a long time and everything works fine until now. However, when I try to open downloaded file and install it I get an error message. I was unable to install it. Now placing footnote on all sheets in a workbook is not working. I do not know what is wrong. Can anybody help me?

There are several reasons that could cause problem like yours. First, it could be an error in the process of downloading and your ZIP file might be damaged. You could try to download it one more time and than try to open it again. Second, you might not have a proper version of Office installed on your computer. Your version of update could be for some other version of Office. In that case, you have to find and download a proper version of updates for your version of MS Office. Third reason for your problem could be that your update may need some service pack or add-ons. If that is your problem, you need to find out what are those things, download and install them.
