I took my HDD over to a friend's place for backup, and when I put it back in, I couldn't boot any more! It says "error loading OS", and nothing I do will make it load Windows! I'm positive the HD didn't get damaged or anything, I took extra care. No settings have been changed, it's 100% as it was before I took it out, except now it won't work. What am I missing here? How do I get the system back w/out formatting?

Is your HD detected at POST? If you're sure that nothing's been changed, namely the jumper settings for slave/master, then it could be a cable failure, try switching the cables with those of your CD/DVD drive. And I guess you already checked this, but make sure the boot sequence is set up correctly in BIOS.
