Can it be done? I'm using Flash MX, but am totally new to flash in general. FMX won't open a .swf file, so I guess I need another tool to edit it. Is there one, and where? Thanks a lot, and I apologize if this is a dumb question.

Swf files are compiled flash files, and as such, you can't edit them directly. You'd need a SWF decompiler, so just google for one. However, it's easier if you still have the .fla file from which the .swf was created, because in that case you can edit it there and then.
