Hello! You are wrong! Your have problem with dual boot because you reinstalled windows. When you reinstalled windows, XP has overwritten master boot record, so, your Mandriva is useless now. You have three options to repair this: make boot diskette for linux and repair; format hard drive and install first XP, then mandriva; and, the best one, asks your neighbor to install XP and Mandriva for you again.
