Hi. I bought brand new Seagate 320 hard drive (never enough storage space:). I have connected it to secondary IDE channel, but hard drive is not recognized. I have hard drive and DVD burner on first IDE channel and they work perfectly well. I have ASUS motherboard, Intel Pentium4 processor and I am running Windows XP Professional. Can you help me with this problem?
Hello. I suggest you to connect new hard drive on first IDE channel, instead of DVD burner, and see if it will work there (pay attention on jumpers). If it works then you probably have problem with IDE connector on motherboard. You can be sure if you connect working drive to this connector (again try with DVD burner). If this is the case then you will need new motherboard or buy PCI RAID card so you can connect your hard drives in RAID mode.
