Can you tell me how fast should be download speed on ADSL? I want to subscribe but I don’t quite understand it. Namely, I want to buy 1 Mbps but a friend of mine told me that it’s not a real download speed. What does it mean? I think it mans that I can download something in a blink of an eye. Is that true?

As a matter of fact, I think that I will have to agree with your friend about this. It’s actually not the real download speed. As I understand it, the actual download speed is eight times slower. So, for example, if your bandwidth is 512 Kbps that means your download speed will be about 60 kbps, meaning that with 1 Mbps it’s 120 Kbps. That’s still very fast but not as you think it is. It’s pretty sufficient for home use. You can download movies and music from the net. But I advise you to use only legal sites and to pay for what you download. It’s very dangerous to download using those P2P programs because you may be sued.
