We recently experienced an Active Directory crash for SBS 2003. Somehow we managed to recover the AD. The problem was probably caused by some viruses since the virus updates were a bit outdated. The problem we’re experiencing now is that workstations are unable to rejoin the domain and we get the message: Failed to connect/locate remote host. Still, we can access the internet from workstations by using the server’s IP address as proxy. Could anyone please help me with this? Thanks in advance!

I’m not really sure about this but I think this might have something to do with DNS/DHCP. Have you reconfigured them after you recovered AD? If you haven’t try that and if that doesn’t help either I think that you should probably reinstall both. I hope this solves your problem. If it doesn’t I’m sure someone else here will have other ideas that might be of use to you. Anyway, keep us informed on your progress!
