| This may sound like a very stupid question to some of you, I know, but I have to ask you anyway My friend installed a fresh new Windows XP on my system. He also put Zone Alarm Firewall. Now, many of my programs are not functioning and it is really annoying me. He suggested me to keep it up all the time, but I wanted to check if that is really necessary |

| Well, I do not really think it is necessary for your firewall to work all the time. I mean, it is a good option to have it up as much as you can, but your system will hardly get hurt if you turn it off from time to time, if you are an average home user. But, it is much better to check its configuration, and to try to configure it better, than to turn it off. You say you have some problems with your program access?? I mean, the point of using firewall is to protect you, so if you turn it off while you are on the net, you can just uninstall it. |
