I just tried to install some game I got as a present from my girlfriend and it said something about me having Direct X 9.0b and that it needs to be upgraded to X 9.0c and I can do it right now because it’s there on the disc. So I click ‘OK’ but after a few minutes it tells me that installing cannot be completed because I don’t have a Direct X 9.0c installed! So I’m in a kind of a loop. I was wondering if there was a way I could totally remove Direct X 9.0b that I have and try installing this new version after that?

I have a bad news for you…once you install Direct X it becomes part of the operating system. So if you want to uninstall it you need to uninstall the whole OS. A Google search for "DirectX Uninstall" might give you some results but as far as I’ve heard that won’t do you any good but might mess up your PC really bad. Anyway, you might try installing newer version of Direct X from some other disc before you take a drastic measure such as reinstalling your whole system.
