| Hello. I am very concerned about my internet security. I just want to do some safe browsing and thats it. But, like many other users all over the world, I always had problems regarding on line activity. My PC has suffered a lot of infections and wide range of intrusions. I have Panda Antivirus installed and a firewall of course. Zone Alarm Pro. But, as I said, from time to time, something passes trough my security. I am very nervous about that, so I am thinking about buying a hardware based firewall. But, am I going to get some improvements and more better security? Where is the difference? Thanks in advance. |

| The differences are very, very huge. Hardware firewall is usually built-in chip inside the broadband router. They can be purchased as a standalone products, but this practice of protection is less present in home use. There is one more issue (my personal opinion) regarding hardware firewalls. I think that Linux or any UNIX based operating system is much better for 100 reliable security. So, if you are attending to get your self a new hardware firewall or broadband router, put UNIX (you have a wide range choice) over it, to control the hardware. |
