I have windows 2000 server which behaves strangely in a past few days. It forbids me to shutdown computer. When I try I get message "You do not have permissions to shutdown and restart this computer". I really have no idea what caused such behavior, but it is annoying. So any help would be appreciated.

Hmmm. It could be a Sasser worm. There are a few variations of this virus and some of them are known to cause that kind of problem. If you are sure that you dont have a virus than check permissions and Group policies. You may have accidentally changed some settings. If it doesnt help try to restore last known good configuration either by pressing F8 during boot and choosing last known good configuration or by coping desired configuration from Your Windows Folder\restore to system32 folder. Hope some of this helps.
